  2. Interact with other members

We hope you enjoy using the new platform. Any and all feedback, comments, concerns, and questions are welcome. And please do let us know if you come across any technical issues at support@gryc.ca. Thank you in advance!

First Steps: Access your Member account

Log in to your membership account

You'll need to log in to your account to view and update your membership profile and to access the Members Portal. You will also use your account to register for events, take part in discussion forums, and other functions connected to account (more on this later).

You can access your account in two ways:

  1. From the main GRYC website, click on "Member login" at the top of the page, or
  2. Directly at https://gryc.wildapricot.org
    (tip: bookmark this page)

Once you've logged in, you should see your name at the top right of the page beside two other links "Change your password" and "Log out". If you see your spouse's name, you've logged in using their profile's credentials which can happen if you share computers. Simply log out then log in again using your email address.

Notes regarding bundle memberships (family):

  • each member of a "bundle membership" has their own member profile, including the "bundle coordinator" (primary member) and "bundle members" (secondary member and children)
  • the bundle coordinator can view and update all bundle members
  • bundle members can access and update their own profile if they have an email address associated with their profile as well as individually register for events
  • the bundle coordinator can also manage event registrations for bundle members without an email address associated with their profile

Forgot your password? Reset it easily!

Reset your password by clicking on the "Forgot password" link on the login page and enter your email address.

Use Google or Facebook to log in

If your membership email is the same as your personal Facebook or Gmail account, you can log in using the "Log in with Facebook" or "Log in with Google" links.

Still can't log in?

Introducing the Members Portal

NEW for 2025! The Members Portal is a space where members can quickly find members-only information. The front page can be accessed without logging in, but you need to be logged in to view the actual content pages. Members-only links will also appear in the page menu when you're logged in.

Additional tools and content will appear in the menu and on the Members Portal index page as the tools continue to develop. Have an idea or suggestion for something you might find useful? Contact support@gryc.ca.

Take a few minutes to explore the Members Portal!

Highlights of the Members Portal

My account

This section has quick-reference links for commonly used or requested account functions. With the exception of the help guide, all of these functions can also be found by navigating the various tabs in your profile. You can access your profile directly by clicking your name at the top of the page when logged in.

Members-only resources

This section highlights tools for members. With the exception of the Volunteer sign-up, all of these tools can also be found in the page menu. Try navigating around to explore the new tools!

Directory - View a list of all current members who have opted to show their profiles to other members. Members can update their privacy settings in their profile to display other information such as phone and email, or opt out of being shown at all. By default, members' first and last names are visible. When you click on a member's name you can see their additional information as well as which other members they are linked to within family memberships, if applicable.
NOTE: only current members have access to the directory.

You can also send a message to another member through the system even without knowing their email address by clicking on the "Send message" button when you open their profile. They'll receive an email indicating that another GRYC member has sent them a message and will include your message, name and email.
Note: Messaging only works for members with an email address associated with their profile.

Gate code - forgot the gate code? No worries! Log in to the Members Portal on your phone to find it. No more waving someone down on the catwalk from across the bay to let you in!

Governance documents - another place to find the By-laws and Blue book as well as AGM documents and Annual Reports... or at least it will be as this section is assembled over time.

Members Forum - NEW FEATURE! Give it a try! Post or reply to a message in an existing topic thread! Subscribe to the forum and/or individual topics to receive email updates. Change the frequency of your notifications in your profile Email subscriptions settings. You can choose whether to receive immediate notifications, daily, or weekly digests.

Events - NEW FEATURE! We're pleased to announce a new feature for finding and registering for club events. Many events now offer optional or required registration, and some require ticket purchase. You can now easily find these events on our new platform.
Note: registration for events is to participate in the event. To volunteer for an event, sign up on iVolunteer. For your convenience, some events have a direct link to volunteer in the description which you can also find on the club calendar.

For some events, you will be directed to an external page for ticket purchases. However, for most, you can register directly through your membership profile; more details will be shared soon!

To help you find specific events, we've created categorized event lists. You can also view the combined "Events" list to see all planned activities for the season.

Please note that not all events are currently on the platform. For a complete overview, please consult the club calendar.

Profile Power

Your event & volunteering interests

Want to get customized notices for events, activities, and volunteer opportunities that you're interested in? Looking for members with similar interests? Harness the power of your profile to customize the information you receive!

Your member profile can be customized to indicate your event, activity, and volunteering interests, and skills you have that you may want to share with the Club. You can update your profile as often as you like, so if your interests change or you want to try something new, change your settings and you'll start to receive different information based on your changes.

To customize your interests:

  1. go to your membership profile (a reminder that each member within a family has their own membership profile, so all family members can have their own customized set of interests!). Need help logging in? Check out the Orientation Guide!
  2. on your membership profile, click the "Edit profile" button then scroll down to the Events & Activities section. Select all the events and activities that you might be interested in. Note: You are not signing up for any specific events by selecting any of these options but you will be on the lists when event organizers are looking for members to reach out to.
  3. continue down the page to the Volunteer Activity - Areas of Interest section and select all the types of volunteer activities that interest you. Again, you are not signing up for any specific volunteer position, just adding your name to related lists for organizers to more easily find potential volunteers.
  4. Click on the "Save" button at the bottom or top of the page.

These customized profiles are new this year so it may take some time before you begin receiving tailored information. As more members customize their own profiles, we'll start to have sufficient data to generate lists based on selected interests.

Account profile settings & options

As you've probably discovered already when exploring your profile, you can update your membership details and view information associated with your profile and account. When you log in to view your profile, the following tabs are available. This information is to provide you with a bit more insight as to what you have access to in the membership system.

Edit profile button

This button opens the "edit mode" where members can modify their Profile, Privacy, and Email subscriptions.

For family memberships, bundle coordinators (primary members) can view and edit the profiles of other members in their family. Bundle members (secondary & child members) can only view and edit their own profiles, and a message is displayed at the top of their profile indicating who their bundle coordinator is. Bundle coordinators can be changed between family members for administrative convenience by contacting membership@gryc.ca.

Profile

This tab displays all current information associated with your member account profile including membership details, contact information, Events & Activities and Volunteer areas of interest (as discussed above), and additional services information (boat & locker details). Boat & locker information is only associated with the primary member's profile so this will appear blank for secondary and child members. Members can also upload a picture of themselves or an image that represents them in the "Avatar" field - this will be displayed in the Member directory if permitted in the privacy settings.

Privacy

This tab shows a summary of what information can be seen by other members, if at all. The default details to show is just your first and last name. In edit mode, you can modify which of your details to show to other member or to hide. This is how you can choose to list your phone and/or email address in the members directory. At the top of the page you can toggle "Show profile to others" to hide your profile from the members' directory altogether. Each member in a bundle has their own profile privacy settings.

You can see what your directory profile displays by clicking "My directory profile" beside the "Edit profile" button. Note, this link only shows if you have "Show profile to others" selected in your Privacy settings.

Note: "Anybody" is a system feature that is not applicable since we only provide active members access to the members directory.

Email subscriptions

This tab shows a summary of email and forum subscription preferences. In edit mode "Edit profile", you can opt out of receiving event notifications and/or general communications including newsletters. If you aren't receiving emails, this is where you can can opt back in if you have previously opted out.

Forum subscriptions can also be modified in this tab. Forum and/or topics you have subscribed to will be listed. In edit mode, you can change the subscription frequency between "immediately", "daily" or "weekly" digest, or unsubscribe altogether. (see the Forum page to try subscribing if you haven't already).

Note: Only members with email addresses associated with their profile will receive emails, event announcements, and forum notifications.

My event registrations

This tab shows a summary of the events have registered for. To cancel a registration, you click on the event to open the event page, then click on the "Already registered" link under the "Register" button. You should see the "Cancel registration" link unless the event settings restrict cancellations in general or time-based cancellation options.

Note: only events in the system will be displayed - Volunteer sign ups and tickets purchased for events like Club Night are done through a different platform and can't be directly linked with your account profile.

Invoices and payments

Any outstanding invoices can be viewed and paid from here. Apple and Google pay will be shown as payment options when the invoice is viewed on compatible platforms. This tab also shows a summary of your invoices and payments history.

Donations

We do not currently have any active donation forms in the system.

Events Registrations & Member Interactions

Event Registrations

For the 2025 season, there are two different platforms being used for registrations. Paid events with tickets are on the external Zeffy platform. Free events are on the member-only platform. Some free events have required registration because of limited spaces or for planning purposes while other free events have optional registration to give you and event organizers an idea of how many might be attending.

All events with registration, whether paid, limited, or optional, are listed on the club calendar and event listings.

Events with tickets

Paid events such as Club Nights and Art Class require tickets to be purchased in advance. When you click on the ticket link on the calendar, event list, or in an email, you will be redirected to the ticket page on the Zeffy platform. This is an external platform and isn't linked to your membership profile. Tickets purchased will not show up in the "My event registrations" tab in your membership account.

Select the number of tickets you want to purchase then check out. You will receive a confirmation email. Printed or digital tickets are not required when you arrive at the event - there will be a registration list when you check-in.

NOTE: at checkout you will see a suggested contribution amount. This is a voluntary contribution which will go directly to the Zeffy platform to re-invest in development and keep it 100% free for nonprofits.
You can opt-out by changing the contribution amount to "0".
See Zeffy voluntary contribution and how to opt-out for more information.

View all events with tickets.

Free events

For all other events, register with your membership profile! Click on the "Register" button and enter the email address associated with your membership profile. When you register for an event, you will receive a confirmation email.

You can see what events you've registered for in the "My event registrations" tab in your membership profile.

For family members, keep in mind that every member of your family has their own profile so register using the email address of the associated membership profile you want to register. To register a family member without an email address, enter the primary member's email address but change the First and Last name fields to the family member being registered.

Need help with registration? Contact support@gryc.ca.

Free events with limited spaces

A few events such as Learn to Sail, Forest Bathing, and Race Official Training have limited spaces and registration in advance is required.

If registration is full, the event will show a "Join waitlist" button. Join the waitlist and if someone cancels or additional spaces are added to the event, the next in line on the waitlist will be registered and sent an email confirming registration.

View all events with limited spaces.

Free events with optional registration

Many events such as Sunday races, Social Sails, and Group Paddles have optional registration. These are drop-in events and pre-registration is not necessary. However, by registering for these events in advance, you can help generate interest and give event organizers an idea of how many people to expect.

When you register for events, there's an option to "Include name in list of event registrants". By choosing this option, other members can see who else has already signed up for an event. If you don't select this option, the event will still show as having registrants but your registration will be shown as "Anonymous".

Want to see who's registered? Above the "Register" button, click on the "Registered # registrants" link. If "Be the first" is showing, no one else has signed up yet. Start the trend by registering for the event!

Cancel your registration

If you can no longer attend an event you've registered for, please cancel. This is especially important for limited space events to open your space for another member.

To cancel your registration, go to the event page (quickly access the event from the "My event registrations" tab in your membership account), click on "Already registered" under the "Register" or "Join waitlist" button, then click on "Cancel registration". You will receive an email confirming your cancelled registration.

Need help to cancel your registration? Contact support@gryc.ca or manager@gryc.ca.

Use the App!

You can register and cancel using the WildApricot App.

  • Browse events using the "Events" tab.
    • When you open an event, click on the "Info" tab to view event details including links to purchase tickets for paid events.
    • Register for an event in the "Overview" tab.
    • You can see who else is registered in the "Registrants" tab.
  • View and cancel your registrations in the "My tickets" tab.
